President Guelleh talks with his Somali counterpart in Kampala

Guelleh and Sheikh Sharif The President of the Republic, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh yesterday held talks with his Somalia, counterpart Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, a few hours before the opening in Kampala, Uganda,of the 15th Summit of Heads of States of the African Union.

"As part of the discussions, strengthening bilateral relations and the urgency of giving (the international community) more aid for Somali Transitional Government (TFG)," said the Djiboutian foreign minister, Mahmoud Yusuf Ali, who attended the interview.

The two men also discussed the support Djibouti has given the Somali government forces, including the granting of training for officers to Somalia.

Also according to Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Djibouti and Somali presidents have agreed on the need to increase operational capacity and the size of AMISOM, for the sole purpose of enforcing peace in that country.

"This last point is even widely discussed by the thirty African leaders participating in this summit," concluded the Foreign Minister of Djibouti.
